Trump Business Sought to Hire Nearly 200 Employees on Visas in 2025

Donald Trump’s corporate entity accelerated its hiring of foreign workers on short-term work permits this year, while his administration was creating barriers for other businesses wanting to do the same, an analysis published Thursday stated.

Based on data from the federal labor department, the Trump Organization sought to bring in at least 184 foreign workers in the coming year for temporary positions at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, two golf clubs and his Virginia winery.

The quantity of requests for temporary work visas for workers including waitstaff, office assistants, cleaning staff, kitchen staff and farm workers was the highest ever filed by the organization, and up from over 120 in the previous term, when his presidency ended.

It was also the fifth time in a decade that Trump had attempted to hire more than 100 foreign employees for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.

The disclosure coincides with a crackdown on immigration laws by his administration that has involved the implementation of a substantial charge on skilled worker visas; increased review of the activities of the 55 million people who possess US visas; and restrictive new rules for foreign students and journalists.

Overall, the business sought to hire 566 foreign laborers over the period the former president has been in the White House, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Notably, Trump was criticized by certain in the GOP this period for comments defending the necessity for overseas employees when a business was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill particular roles.

“You cannot just say a nation is coming in, going to spend billions to build a facility, and going to take people off an jobless roster who haven’t worked in years, and they’re going to start producing their missiles. It doesn’t work that well,” he told a host after it was implied that foreign workers undercut the wages of American employees.

The administration refused a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not provide an answer to an request for information.
