Tributes Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt able to express about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," shared Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner left him smitten. "As we began spending more time together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the film, remarking that he could not remember "a single day without laughter".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official decided to bar the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the LAPD.
A legal directive placed a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" connected to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the deaths, public personalities shared different reactions.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing divisive claims that were broadly criticized by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics last week. Talking on his show, Rogan labeled the comments as "shocking" and implied they showed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by proposing that an aide should have stepped in when the impulse to comment on the tragedy was made.
