The Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Against defending champion Dodgers
Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the championship in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays reached their maiden World Series after the 1993 season by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Behind by two runs, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh frame, guiding the only Canadian franchise in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 series win in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the upcoming Fall Classic.
"I'm thrilled for this squad, the city, Canada," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now hit twenty-three playoff homers, placing him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine another person in the world that I'd choose in that moment besides him with his post-season brilliance," said Schneider.
Seattle, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the one club yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it hurts" after his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but applauded their work in the campaign.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we ended up on the wrong side of this game," he continued.
Toronto's team claimed the title on both previous visits in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
