Previous British Broadcasting Corporation Advisers Undergo MPs' Questioning Following Claims of Prejudice in Unauthorized Memorandum
We open with questions from Conservative lawmaker the committee chair, that oversees the committee.
She opens by providing details to the leaked memorandum prepared by Michael Prescott and released in the Telegraph.
"I don't want the BBC slanting in any particular direction, My only wish is for it straight, impartial and equitable," he says.
When asked if he considers the BBC is structurally prejudiced, the adviser answers: "Absolutely not. To be clear, a great deal the BBC produces is world class - encompassing informative and fictional shows."
Nevertheless, he states: "There remains significant effort that requires attention at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
Another former external BBC adviser questioned by the group, Caroline Daniel, says she takes the BBC with great importance and that it operates a "persistent practice and active debate" on evolving and intricate topics.
"Was the BBC prepared to engage in a proper conversation and debate and act accordingly?" she questions. "From my perspective, affirmative, they were."
