Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
