Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
