Former Treasury Secretary Summers Resigns from AI Company's Directors
Former US treasury secretary Lawrence Summers is exiting the governing body at OpenAI, just days after a collection of emails between him and deceased financier the accused trafficker became public.
He stated in an announcement that he was "thankful for the privilege to have participated, excited about the prospects of the organization, and eagerly await tracking their progress".
The former Harvard president, who once presided over the prestigious university, announced on recently that he would be scaling back from public roles due to his connections with Jeffrey Epstein.

The newly public emails demonstrated that the official exchanged messages with Jeffrey Epstein until the 24 hours preceding the financier's 2019 apprehension for alleged sex trafficking of minors.
In additional comments, the technology organization expressed it respected his choice to step down.

This news follows after the entire Congress of the legislative branch agreed on Tuesday to approve a measure that would require the Department of Justice to make public its files on Epstein.
The legislation will subsequently move to the administration of the White House for approval. He has said he intends to sign the measure, after changing his stance on the issue following pushback from his base.

A batch of Epstein-connected correspondence made public by the Congressional committee recently mentioned numerous prominent individuals in the billionaire's previous network, without suggesting any criminal activity by those individuals.

Following the economist's statement on earlier this week, the Center for American Progress, a left-leaning research organization in the capital where he was a researcher, confirmed that the economist was no longer connected with the group.
The former official joined the directorate of OpenAI, which develops ChatGPT, in the previous year - following a defeated move to remove its chief executive the company leader.
