Over the course of the show, viewers witnessed murders, double-crosses, serious side-eye, and a memorable moment that cut through all suspense.

However on Thursday night, the ultimate victor of the inaugural celebrity edition was revealed.

From nineteen participants, only five were left standing: Traitors and faithfuls competing for the winnings.

Before long, the field narrowed to only three contenders: the final players.

In the end, funny man Alan Carr emerged as the champion, in a shocking result that went viral and left him emotional.

"This has been destroying me, my apologies," he exclaimed, revealing to the other players that he'd always been a traitor. "I'm an awful human being."

"You played amazingly," they consoled him. "It's all right."

Online platforms immediately exploded with this development. "The worst deceiver being the most effective player," wrote a viewer.

"It couldn't have been a more iconic ending," stated another, while someone else described it as "the TV moment of the year."

The organization he selected, a cancer charity, gets to keep all the prize money, with the final pot reaching eighty-seven thousand five hundred pounds.

The comedian's evolution from comic relief to cold-hearted killer was one of the standout highlights of the series.

But his win still shocked viewers in shock, as noted by industry observers.

"The thought of him, of all people, executing a masterclass in deceit felt just as probable as him keeping composure through his comedy routines."

On subsequent discussions, the other contestants explained the reasons nobody had truly doubted him.

True to form, the comedian provided unforgettable quotes.

"To be honest, I started this game as something of a nervous wreck. I've thrown close allies to save myself, I've murdered beloved figures openly. I'm clearly a better liar and player than I believed."

At the same time, another contestant commented that being in the final was "significantly more pressure than competing with England", while someone else said he was "totally surprised" to have lasted this long.

In the beginning of the finale, several players appeared to be attempting to become the fashion standout of the castle, taking over from the previously eliminated fashionable contestant.

The winner appeared at the morning meal resembling a vintage television personality in patterned burgundy attire, later switching into a bejewelled white suit.

But he was out-jacketted by a fellow player's burgundy formal wear. Impressive style.

Next up was the competition, with the final players boarding a locomotive called - naturally - The Deceivers' Railway.

This task saw them ripping up images of former contestants. Have sympathy for a player who managed to get hit in the head multiple times by the cover of a substantial container.

Soon after, the moment arrived for the roundtable.

The deceivers did a pinky promise beforehand, pledging to support each other. "We've come a long way, I'm not going to throw him under a bus," stated one, while their partner simply laughed.

And one did stick to his promise. Yet, managing to stay under the radar for the majority of the competition, the other still received the majority elimination votes.

The remaining traitor appeared to be experiencing a world of pain to be the final deceiver remaining. "Being alone, I'm frightened," he said. "I'm a loose cannon, a rudderless ship."

Social media and onlookers were similarly upset.

"I hoped against that player to be banished. An endearing deceiver," said a commentator.

"Your legacy will remain in the show's legacy," wrote another user.

But there was no time to focus on their elimination. Soon, the game reached the final stage - which was the moment everyone anticipated.

The last players gathered around the ceremonial fire. Meanwhile, the partnership collapsed, precisely when it mattered the most, in a truly WTF moment.

A player was eliminated in dramatic fashion - following a surprising decision from their ally, who betrayed them.

"It hurts to be stabbed in the back at the final moment in that manner," remarked the eliminated player. Subsequently, we learned that if they ever communicate, the eliminated contestant refers to their former ally by a betrayer's name.

Ultimately, just three players remained in the game: the last participants.

A contestant, looking incredibly smug, chose to conclude the game. The same decision was made by another, and everything depended on the third, who made the identical choice - resulting in the deceiver was the winner.

For observers, the scene where the other players comforted the champion was "compelling television". "I anticipate it will be a contender for outstanding scene at television honors," they said.

Fortunately, the champion soon recovered from his bout of tears, and could finally appreciate his victory.

"Such an emotional journey. I was awful at lying, my expressions gave me away and here I am a winner," the winner said.

And he even made light of the memorable elimination - his close ally during the initial stages - by reaching over the presenter in the final scene and making contact.

"There's something on your face," he said, with his characteristic laugh.

The recent episodes of celebrity gossiping, scheming and the occasional surprising incidents may feel like one big crazy jumbled dream. Yet it actually occur. It will be remembered fondly.
