Hailing from the Windy City, Bobbi Brown, 68, studied stage makeup and photography at Emerson College in Boston. Back in 1980, she moved to NYC to work as a cosmetics professional. She introduced her signature line in 1991, sold it to the beauty conglomerate after a few years, and built it into a worldwide name. After departing from the company in 2016, she unveiled a fresh venture, Jones Road Cosmetics, in 2020. Recently, she was named one of Time magazine’s most influential people. She has published nine beauty guidebooks and a personal story, Still Bobbi. She is married with three boys and resides in New Jersey.

What’s the first thing you remember?
Watching my mother put on makeup. I was in awe of her beauty and charm. She was just 21 when I was born and quite stunning.

Feeling and being unfocused.

Cleaning the sump pump after my sister and I clogged it.

I would do more weightlifting than aerobics. Strong is better than skinny.

My three-year-old granddaughter, who knows exactly who she is.
When did you last cry, and why?
Recording audio for my book and mentioning my beloved late mother-in-law got me emotional.
What legacy do you want for your kids?
Good values and a lot of money.

When I got hit by a car in my home town.
