Amanda Anisimova extended her outstanding season by reaching the final of the Beijing competition, overpowering defending champion Coco Gauff with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory in the semi-finals.
Ranked third in Beijing, the 24-year-old now boasts a two-to-one edge in her career meetings against Gauff.
Game Analysis: Anisimova Bludgeons Her Way to Triumph
The third seed stormed her way to a 5-0 lead in the first set before the second seed got on the board to make it five-one. The second set unfolded in a comparable manner, with the American building a commanding five-game lead. Although her opponent fought back to win the next two games, Anisimova clinched the win in just 58 minutes.
“I delivered a excellent performance and I was aware I was going to have to play at my best against my opponent if I wanted to get the win. I’m thrilled to be in the championship match,” Anisimova stated.
“I’ve expressed every time I’ve walked on court and won my match that I love playing here and the fan encouragement has been incredible since the start. I really think that’s carried me through this whole competition. Hopefully everyone can come out and cheer for me in the final match.”

Next up for the world No 4 is either the fifth-seeded American her compatriot, or the Czech 26th seed her opponent, who face off in the second semi-final on Saturday evening.
